Here is Chapter 4! WOOHOO!!! In this video we meet the elderly woman but still don't learn her name ahhhh!!!! (I know what it is and could change the story so that you learn it now but I think there might be a better and possibly more entertaining way of doing that! ;D)

Chapter 4

Now knowing that a bath was out of the question for tonight I decided to look around a bit. As I was walking through one of the hallways I noticed a sign on the door of room 18. It said: CULTURAL ROOM LESSONS: 7-10:30

Lessons, huh? Sounded kind of interesting. I walked through the door and was greeted by the elderly woman from before.

“Nancy-san. Please, sit.” She said.

Naturally I went over and sat across from her. In between us, there was a table with some paper, brushes, and ink.

“It is a pleasure to meet you properly. I am sorry for the way I behaved when you first arrived. It was very impolite. Please, forgive me,” She apologized.

“Of course, don’t worry,” I said, “It’s nice to meet you as well.”

“That is very kind of you to say. But, I must always worry about the guests who stay with us. Especially now.”

“What do you mean, especially now?” I wondered.

“Are you here for a lesson today?” she asked, changing the subject.

A lesson sounded nice, “yes,” I replied.

“Today you will be learning katakana. To the outsider, katakana always looks far more difficult to learn than it is. You just need to be patient, and you need to learn to see more than you are used to seeing. There is a book to help in the chest. Practice until it looks like your name, Nancy – not just some lines,” She told me.

“What do you mean?” I asked, completely confused.

“Although there are many Nancys in the world, your name belongs to only you. It has always been yours. You must try until what you see on the paper is not just a word, it is you,” she explained.

I looked at the piece of paper in front of me and she had already drawn some outlines on it. That was good because I was still kinda confused… In the end it did not look as good as it should have but I was pleased.

“Very well done, Nancy. This is the best I have seen from a new student. I knew you could do this well. Leave this to dry, and I’ll have it brought to your room to remind you of your success,” She said, sounding very pleased.

Well, since the lesson was over, I thought it was time to ask a few questions.

“Have you always offered classes?” I asked.

“No. It is new. We have developed a… reputation. And for many years I’ve wanted to teach our guests,”

“Have you always lived at the ryokan?”

“Since I was born.”

“Have you ever left?”

“I have. But I never found anywhere I wanted to be as much as here.”

“I’ll let you go,” I said, not being able to think of anything else to ask her.

“Come again.” She told me.

I left planning on next exploring the gardens.

Oh btw! (This is Sarah, not Nancy) My favorite symbol is SHI cuz it looks like a smiley face! haha! =D

Here is chapter 3 of Nancy Drew: Shadow at the Water's Edge! YAY!!! In this chapter we an entertaining conversation with Bess and George, grade some papers (I don't go into detail with that. I'm saving that for something special! ;D), and meet Rentaro! Enjoy! =D

Chapter 3
As I was walking up to my room I heard a meow. At first I thought a real cat had somehow gotten in when I realized it was my phone.

            “Hello,” I said.

“Nancy! You made it! How was your ride?” asked Bess, my cousin and (occasional) fellow sleuth.

“It was pretty good-“ I answered only to be cut off by Bess.

“I love Japan! I have done so much shopping – and George’s convention is crazy! I’ve never seen so many people! It’s totally packed.”

            “You sound pretty excited.”

“Well yeah. Kinda hard not to be here. I don’t even know where to start – have you ever had mocha? It’s a revelation, Nancy. I’m not even kidding. And the shopping-“

“Conference me in already,” said my other cousin George. She is another one of my (occasional) fellow sleuth.

There was then a whole lot of arguing and beeping until I finally heard George say, “We all on?”

 “Yes,” I replied.

“Yup. Why is that so hard?” asked Bess.

“It so isn’t,” retorted George.

“Anyway – what’s your story? What are you up to? You coming over?” asked Bess.

“I’m still getting settled in, but I’ll be out to see you guys soon.” I replied.

“How’s the… whatever it is you’re staying at?” queried George.

“Ryokan. It’s great. A little strange, though. When I was checking in, a picture fell off the wall, and everyone was REALLY weird about it,” I explained.

“Huh. Oh no, our train’s gonna be here in a sec – gotta go!” said George before we could talk about it anymore.

“See ya, Nancy!” exclaimed Bess before she hung up.

“Bye!” I managed to say right before the click.

I went up to my room and looked around a bit. The room was small but nice. It had a couple of closets. One had my luggage in it and the other had some extra blankets. There was a balcony that looked over the gardens, which were beautiful!

I decided to sort through my luggage and see if anything in there that I needed. It was a good thing I checked because I found my Japanese/English dictionary. Then I decided to, since I was there, grade some papers. Some of the kids were struggling but all of them were doing fairly well.

Well after a crazy night like this I thought a nice hot bath sounded really nice. I headed downstairs to the baths but when I went to go in a boy came out!

“Whoa! Hang on. Men only right now,” He said while putting down the toolbox he was carrying.

“What do you mean?” I asked.

“The baths, the blue banner means the baths are for men. The red banner means women only. I don’t know why we don’t mention this at the front desk, this is useful information,” He explained, “Anyway, I’m Rentaro. I’m out in the garden if you need anything.”

He picked up his tool box and started to walk away. Then he tripped.

“Whoops! Ow, that hurt…” He muttered.

Well, I guess the bath will have to wait until tomorrow night. Knowing what happens when I travel, I’m sure things will still be crazy then…

Here's chapter 2 of Nancy Drew Shadow at the Water's Edge!!! This chapter is the intro followed by a long conversation with Miwako. I don't have very much practice with dialogue but I tried my best! Enjoy!!! =D

Chapter 2
I approached the Ryokan slowly. It really was gorgeous, I just couldn’t focus on it. I was very nervous and I’m sure that’s what made those lights look so dim, those beautiful plants look so uninviting.
As I walked inside the first thing that caught my eye was a painting of a beautiful woman. I’ll have to ask about it, I thought.
I turned to the two women at the front desk. They both bowed politely. One was very young with short black hair and the other was much older with gray hair up in a neat bun. The younger one’s Grandmother, I guessed.

“Hi, I have a reservation under Nancy Drew.”

Suddenly that painting that I had seen coming in started shaking violently! It fell to the floor and the glass cover shattered. The two women and I all gasped in surprise!

“Do you believe me now?” The older woman whispered to other.

“Obaasan, it only fell.” replied the girl.

“It did not! You know better!” said the elderly woman, now nearing a shout.

The other girl turned to me with a strained look on her face and said, “I’m very sorry. She- she’s just a little upset.”

The elderly woman then told her, “She does not want her here. Tell her to go. Now!”, and then walked away.

The whole time I had been standing there trying to interrupt because, I had a feeling that would only make matters worse. Once the old woman had left I looked at the girl and asked, “What was that about? Why’s she so upset?”

“Please don’t worry about that,” she said, “Here. This is your room key.” She handed me a key with a tag with the number 24 on it, I assumed that was my room number.

             “Thanks.” I replied.

“Your room is on the second floor, I’ve already had your bags sent up,” she explained, “Please, my name is Miwako, Come to me if there is anything you need.”

Thank goodness! It felt good to finally know someone’s name! Odd… I hadn’t seen anyone come in to take my luggage. I guess I was wrapped up in that argument earlier.

“You grandmother seemed very upset about the portrait breaking,” I noted.

“It’s no big deal. She thinks it’s a bad sign that the portrait fell from the wall.”

            “Why’s that?”

“It’s a very… special portrait. It’s one of the two remaining images of my mother and it was taken shortly before… It’s one of my grandmother’s favorite portraits,” She explained… sort of. I could tell the subject hit hard so I didn’t push it.

Suddenly my attention was drawn to a strange noise on the other side of the desk. It was a kind of strange whirring sound.

“Is that a robotic cat?!” I asked, fascinated.

The tired look melted from Miwako’s face and was replaced with a big, gleaming smile!

“Yeah! Suki! Isn’t she the greatest? Rentaro got her for me. I;ve wanted my own pet cat for forever, but I can’t have one at the ryokan. I came into work one day, and there she was, right next to the sweetest note from Rentaro!”

“I’ve never seen a robotic cat before! What does it do?”

Miwako’s smiles faded slightly and she said, “She’s not and it –she’s Suki!,” she turned to face Suki, “It’s ok, she didn’t mean it,” She cooed to the cat. She turned back to me and told me, “she doesn’t do much, mainly sits – but – oh wait, I just learned something neat!” She turned back to face the cat. “Suki: Tate!”

Suki sat on her hind legs, raised her paws, and tilted her head. It was so cute!

“That was so cute! She’s really great!” I told Miwako.

“That’s all I remember right now, but she can do a lot more. I should figure out what the rest of the commands are, come to think of it. Although to be honest, it’s a little more believable if she just does what she wants.”

“I’ll talk to you later,” I said. I didn’t want to bother her anymore.

“ok, see ya,” she said with a smile.

Falling portraits and a robot cat. This evening has certainly been interesting so far…

So here is the first chapter of my fan story based off of Shadow at the Water's Edge! So sit back and get ready for a story of ghosts, romance, and suspense! Enjoy!! =D

Nancy Drew Shadow at the Water’s Edge
‘After a string of tough mysteries, I’ve decided to take a break and do a little sightseeing. I’m taking P.J. Krolmeister up on his offer to send me to his favorite ryokan, or traditional inn, in Kyoto, Japan!
I’ll spend the days teaching English and my nights with Bess and George exploring the sights, fashions, history and nightlife of downtown Kyoto.
From what I hear, the inn I’m staying at is known as one of the scariest places in the city. I’m not sure why people say that… I might have to poke around a little to see what’s really going on at the Ryokan Hiei.’

That was the case file that was hidden safely away in my purse, which I held tight in my hands. Sometimes I’m too trusting and get in a lot of trouble. Sometimes I’m too precautious and still get in a lot of trouble. Today, on the plane to Kyoto, I was being to precautious.
I had done a little research on the Ryokan Hiei and found some interesting reviews… Most of the people that visited there ended up leaving in terror and fury. My curiosity was piqued, and I never scare easy. I had made up my mind. I was going to find out what was haunting the Ryokan Hiei!

Fan Stories!!! =D

Hi Everyone!!!

I know I don't post on here very often so I really want to something special for all of you! Some of you may know that Arglefumph is writing a fan story for Warnings at Waverly Academy. I really love it and since I one day want to be an author I thought it was a great idea!!! My favorite game in the whole world is The Curse of Blackmoor Manor so I'm going to write a story based off of that game! I'm so excited!!! Tonight I'm going to play the game again and take notes. I'll try my best to make this story fantabulous!!!! (Get it? It's a FANtabulous FAN story! hahaha!!) This will be interesting because I've never written a story like this and the game has some randomized scenes in it. I will try to incorporate as many of those scenes as possible! (Even if I don't get them while playing the game this time.) I'm going to get to work on it right now and I'll post the first chapter tomorrow! I'll try to do a chapter every day!!!

The pleasure is all mine child!

Oh btw, here is a link to Arglefumph's story! It's really good!!! http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7595987/1/
